International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) accredited courses for users, managers and demonstrators of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs).

IPAF Operator course with practical training session and assessment covering powered access product – Mobile Vertical (3a).

Course Aims

To instruct an Operator to prepare and safely operate Mobile Vertical (3a) MEWPs to obtain an IPAF MEWP Operator Licence.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course the Operator will:

  • Be aware of the relevant Health and Safety regulations.
  • Be aware of accident prevention and control.
  • Be aware of the needs regarding personnel protection.
  • Be aware of the need to refer to the machine Operating Manual.
  • Drive and manoeuvre the MEWP safely to correctly position and carry out the required tasks in a correct and proper manner.

Duration: 1 day

IPAF Operator course with practical training session and assessment covering powered access product – Mobile Boom (3b).

Course Aims

To instruct an Operator to prepare and safely operate Mobile Boom (3b) MEWPs to obtain an IPAF MEWP Operator Licence.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course the Operator will:

  • Be aware of the relevant Health and Safety regulations.
  • Be aware of accident prevention and control.
  • Be aware of the needs regarding personnel protection.
  • Be aware of the need to refer to the machine Operating Manual.
  • Drive and manoeuvre the MEWP safely to correctly position and carry out the required tasks in a correct and proper manner.

Course Aims

To instruct an Operator to prepare and safely operate Mobile Vertical (3a) and Mobile Boom (3b) MEWPs to obtain an IPAF MEWP Operator Licence.

IPAF Operator course with practical training session and assessment covering two powered access products – Static Vertical (1a) and Static Boom (1b)

This course can be ran as a combined Static Vertical (1a) and Static Boom (1b) course or we can also run individually as a Static Vertical (1a) or Static Boom (1b)

IPAF Operator course with practical training session and assessment covering Push Around Vertical (PAV) platforms.

Course Aims

To instruct an Operator to prepare and safely operate various types of Push Around Vertical (PAV) Platforms to obtain an IPAF MEWP Operator’s PAL Card.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course the operator will:

  • Be aware of the relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Be aware of the need to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Be aware of the need to refer to the machine Operating Manual.

Duration: ½ day

Maximum number of candidates = 8

This course instructs a user to select, inspect and use a harness and associated equipment safely when using a MEWP.

Course Aims

To instruct a candidate to safely select and conduct inspections of harnesses and lanyards used for restraint on a Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) or Mast Climbing Work Platform (MCWP).

Course Objectives

At the end of the course the candidate will:

  • Understand the relevant health and safety regulations, guidance and standards.
  • Be able to identify and select the correct form of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) against falls from height when working from a MEWP or MCWP.
  • Understand how to check, use, maintain and store a harness and lanyard in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Be able to fit and adjust a harness and lanyard.
  • Be able to conduct a periodic or an interim inspection on a harness and lanyard used for restraint on a MEWP or MCWP.
  • Be able to maintain associated records.

MEWPs for Managers is the essential, one-day course for those who plan, supervise and manage the use of mobile elevating work platforms in the workplace.

Course Aims

To instruct a supervisor/manager in the requirements to select, use and manage various types of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) under his/her control.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course the candidate will:

  • Be aware of current legislation.
  • Be aware of different MEWP classifications.
  • Be aware of the importance of correct machine selection.
  • Be able to select the correct PPE for the operator.
  • Have a greater knowledge and awareness of the safe use and operation of MEWPs.
  • Be able to identify misuse and abuse of MEWPs.
  • Be aware of planning and maintenance considerations.
